OUR CLUB

The Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club

The Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club formed in 2009, 2 years after the Maroondah Squash & Racquetball Club moved from it's Ringwood base to Genesis, Wantirna, then later amalgamating with the Wantirna Squash Club to eventually become the Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club.

In what has been an incredible success story, the Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club has become a powerhouse in all facets of squash and racquetball, not only in competition, but in many off-court activities as well as developmental procedures for juniors and players of all ages.

As Club President Lao Biesbroek recently commented   “Our Club is like one big Community and we tend to all come together and make things happen for us and others to enjoy.”

"We have formed a community of people who don’t just play. We coach, encourage others, we run, walk or play for a cause to help others. We provide important social connections and long term friendships."

The Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club is based at Genesis, Wantirna which is situated opposite Fairpark Reserve at 258 Scoresby Road, Boronia.

PREVIOUS HISTORY

Maroondah Squash & RACQUETBALL Club

The Maroondah Squash Club was formed in 1988 when the Ringwood Squash Club and the Nunawading Squash Club (who were both based at the Ringwood Squash Centre) voted to merge and form a new Club.
When racquetball became popular and the Club started playing pennant the members of Maroondah Squash Club voted to include racquetball in its name to embrace this new form of competition.

In 2007, the Maroondah Squash & Racquetball Club sadly had to leave it's home of over 40 years at the Ringwood Squash Centre and relocated as a Club to Genesis, Wantirna.

In 2009, the Maroondah Squash & Racquetball Club voted to merge with the Wantirna Squash Club to form the Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club.

Wantirna Squash Club

The Wantirna Squash Club was formed in 1985 soon after the Squash Courts were opened in Scoresby Road, and was based there until 2009, when it merged with the Maroondah Squash & Racquetball Club to form the Mountain District Squash & Racquetball Club.
